Aqua Gen is ISO certified

In order to secure good and stable egg quality Aqua Gen Norway’s egg production has been certified according to ISO 9001:2000. The certificate was issued by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), that also conducts external audits to ensure that the quality system is functioning properly.

The certification comprises production of eyed eggs from Atlantic salmon and rainbow trout, from selection of brood fish candidates until egg dispatch. The process for building a quality system has been ongoing for some years, but is now formalized with an ISO certificate. The certification strengthens systematic improvement of the egg production and checking of control parameters. We are of course proud for having reached this milestone, after a lot of systematic work. The ISO standard can be applied in most businesses, and the central elements are a quality control system, management’s responsibility, resource management, sales, monitoring and continuous improvement.

Good procedures are important for securing good quality and traceability during a hectic spawning season. ISO certification ensures that the company is following secure and good production routines. To ensure quality throughout the production chain, continuous documentation and control routines are required from management as well as other employees. Securing good egg quality has now been systematized through continuous development and improvement.
