BKD Restrictions are lifted

Sampling at the time of stripping
Sampling at the time of stripping
Restrictions which were imposed in connection with the presence of the BKD bacterium in brood fish at Aqua Gen Hemne in the autumn of 2008 have been lifted.  All the brood fish at the site have been disposed of and the facility has been disinfected and fallowed according to regulations.

In a letter dated January 26, 2009, the Food Safety Authority (Mattilsynet) has formally lifted the restrictions on all the land-based sites and facilities at Aqua Gen Hemne. This is based upon the completion of sanitizing measures, three months of closure for the Stokkvika site, and ongoing health surveillance.

For the current season only brood fish from Aqua Gen Tingvoll and Aqua Gen's external egg suppliers have been used. The production of brood fish groups which will form the basis of egg deliveries in 2009/10, 2010/11 and 2011/12 is proceeding normally at all Aqua Gen's brood fish sites.
